The routes and neighborhoods offer great variety. You can ride through the historic center passing by the Brandenburg Gate and along Unter den Linden. Then head east into Kreuzberg or Friedrichshain where the streets have more street art and lively local energy. For calmer rides Tempelhof Park with its huge open former airfield lets you cycle for kilometers in almost any direction. Further out the paths along the Spree River or through Grunewald forest give you a nice mix of nature and fresh air right next to the city.
Locals here have a strong cycling culture. Early in the mornings you see many people riding to work through Mauerweg the old Berlin Wall trail that now serves as a long peaceful path around the city. Others prefer the routes in Tiergarten park where wide paths go under big trees.
